The Turkish Parliament approves the law that prohibits children under 15 to use social media, Daily Sabah reports.

The law also indicates that businesses that disregard the new regulations would be subject to severe administrative penalties and possibly even advertising prohibitions. According to Justice Minister Akın Gürlek, Turkey is preparing a comprehensive overhaul of social media regulations that would require users to verify their identities through the e-Government (e-Devlet) system before accessing major platforms.

This move is expected to improve online safety for children as well as transparency and reduce online crime.
