Global tech companies of Meta, Broadcom, Applied Materials, Global Foundries and Synopsys are partnering to launch a $125 million Semiconductor Research Hub at UCLA (University of California, Los Angeles) Samueli School of Engineering.

According to cnbc.com, the five-year initiative will focus on AI-powered chip research, workforce development and innovations in chip design, software, manufacturing and equipment. UCLA faculty and students will work with the partner companies to help speed up the research innovation in these fields.

The project will also offer yearlong internships for engineering doctoral students with the participating companies.
