Amazing proof that enormous animals formerly inhabited the area has been found in an Ice Age cave in Central Texas, reported by The Cool Down on Yahoo.

While snorkeling in an underground stream in Bender's Cave, paleontologist John Moretti discovered fossils of prehistoric animals. He discovered an astounding amount of bones. Pieces of enormous tortoise shells and the remains of a massive armadillo cousin were found. It demonstrates how the Earth's climate has evolved over millennia. It is believed that the bones fell into the cave during prehistoric floods.

While the enormous turtle would have needed warm temperatures, several of the species lived in forests. Large grasslands may have existed in Central Texas during the interglacial period, when temperatures were lower.
